Doctor Christopher Cox

Dr. Christopher V. Cox specializes in joint replacement surgeries, including hip replacement, partial and total knee replacements, and revision total joint surgeries.  He is also a specialist in Hip Resurfacing procedures and has performed them since their introduction into the US in 2006. He performs both Minimal Incision Posterior Approach as well as Direct Anterior Approach hip surgeries.

Dr. Cox received his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in 1982 from Lewis and Clark College in Oregon. At Lewis and Clark, he was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. He subsequently obtained his medical degree and his orthopedic specialty training at the University of California, San Francisco. He then completed a Fellowship in Adult Joint Replacement and Implant Surgery at the prestigious Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Southern California.

Since 1992, Dr. Cox has been in private practice in San Francisco. He is the Medical Director of the Joint Replacement Center Orthopedic at California Pacific Medical Center and is a member of the Orthopedic Quality Assurance Committee. He is also currently an Associate Clinical Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at UCSF.  He is the past-president of the Western Orthopedic Association, Northern California Chapter and former member of the Board of Directors of the Abbott Society of UCSF. He is an accomplished cyclist and mountaineer.
